Master Degree in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM, 1998). Master in Urban and Regional Planning from the National Public Administration Institute (INAP, 2005), and Member of the Spanish Association of Landscape Architects (AEP, 2013).

She has acquired great professional experience in the public administration while holding the positions of architect in the civil service of the Department of Planning (1999-2003) and as Chief Executive Officer of Urban and Regional Planning of the autonomous Government of Cantabria. She also worked as a consultant for the Government of Cantabria (2008-2010) and the council of Castilla León (2008) for the implementation of the European Landscape Convention. Miriam has collaborated with the Government of Galicia (2012-2013) on the development of Guides and documents to improve landscape quality.

Since 2007 she is the founder and design director of LandLab: laboratory of landscapes. The office has realized different projects aiming at the promotion and development of resilience through landscape, as well as complex strategies for planning and design involving multiple agents (humans and nonhuman). Her work has been recognized nationally and internationally with numerous awards and has been widely published.

She combines design work with research, writing and teaching. She has been visiting professor at The University of Pennsylvania, and lecturer at many universities like la Sapienza (IT), Harvard (US) and many Universities in Spain. Actually she is finishing her doctoral thesis entitled: "Toward the synthetic metamorphosis of the coast. Designing resilient landscapes", at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning of the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the Department of Landscape Architecture at the School of Design of the University of Pennsylvania (USA, 2015).

She is the Director of the Degree in Landscape Architecture of the School of Architecture and Technology of the University Camilo José Cela in Madrid and professor at the Architecture and Engineering School of the University of Zaragoza, the Master in Landscape Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the Master in Urban and Regional Planning at the National Institute of Public Administration and author of a great number of publications.
